Context Skin makes Unisex Bio Cosmetic Products

The market for beauty and cosmetics products is highly competitive. To stand out, brands often rely on hypoallergenic ingredients like natural oils and extracts. Therefore, startups work on naturally derived and skin-friendly ingredients, including vegetable oils and herbal extracts, to manufacture beauty and personal care products.

US-based startup Context Skin manufactures unisex beauty and skincare products derived from natural ingredients like herbal oils and extracts. Their eye, lip, hair, and nail bio cosmetic products are dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic. Some of their products include hydrating moisturizers, hydrating toners, scrubs, and balms. Their products are also free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates and have never been tested on animals.

Seed Phytonutrients offers Plant-Based Cosmetics

Cosmetic products often contain chemicals like sodium hydroxide, urea, lead, parabens, and sulfates. These products, if used for a long time, cause skin allergies, hair fall, and in extreme cases, even cancer. Hence, startups manufacture beauty products that utilize only ingredients that are derived from plants such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, seeds, nuts, and herbs.

US-based startup Seed Phytonutrients offers beauty products formulated with plant-derived ingredients like coconut oil, sunflower oil. camelina seed oil, olive oil, mint, shea butter, and turmeric. These potent ingredients find their way into the startup’s range of body, face, and hair products. Seed Phytonutrients’ sustainable products are also climate neutral, which reduces their carbon footprint during the production of the products. Further, their personal care products are not tested on animals.

Clockface Beauty makes Vegan Beauty Care Products

Due to growing levels of pollution, skin diseases like acne, skin inflammation, and eczema have become common. Any chemical-based formula to treat them leads to further skin issues including hyperpigmentation and itching. Therefore, cosmetic startups look to solve skin issues using vegan beauty products that do not contain any harmful chemicals.

British startup Clockface Beauty offers vegan beauty and personal care products like lip balm, face masks, face scrubs, and beard oil. These products contain plant-based oils such as apricot kernel oil and argan oil as well as naturally-obtained substances like Himalayan pink salt and white clay. The startup’s ingredients reduce the chance of contracting skin problems like rashes, allergies, and eczema. The startup doesn’t use any synthetic chemicals, parabens, silicone, sulfates, artificial fragrances, or artificial preservatives in its products.

Loesia develops Natural Lipsticks

Every year, billions of units of rigid plastic from beauty and personal care products end up in landfills. Lipsticks and lip glosses create a lot of plastic waste due to their packaging and toxic waste due to the use of harmful chemicals like lead and parabens. Therefore, startups are working on natural ingredients-based solutions to manufacture lipsticks and also incorporate sustainable cosmetics packaging.

French startup Loesia offers lipsticks and makeup removers. The startup utilizes eleven natural ingredients including vegetable oils, vegetable inks, and natural pigments to create their lip colors. They use locally-produced plum oil, grape seed oil, and olive oil extracted from controlled forests to add to the lipsticks. The startup also provides handmade fiber-based makeup kits and reusable makeup-removing wipes.

Ellie Bianca offers Organic Beauty Products

Through the seepage of harmful chemicals in the environment, cosmetics production results in toxic waste streams. In response, startups develop organic and natural beauty products without using pesticides, fertilizers, parabens, or sulfates. This change in business model produces clean cosmetics products and also avoids land and water pollution.

Canadian startup Ellie Bianca makes all-natural, vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable cosmetics. The startup’s products are made up of primarily raw and unrefined shea butter and oil. All of their cosmetics are certified organic or organically grown. Some of their products include face oils, day and night serums, bath salts, lip balms, liquid hand soaps, and handcrafted soaps. The startup also empowers women by setting up a localized sourcing system.
