Five Dot Botanics offers Vegan Skincare Products

Skincare products are made of complex ingredients, most of which are chemical synthetics that have side effects for some people. The lack of transparency about the formulation is a significant issue with chemical-based cosmetics. Startups are advancing skincare by using plant-based extracts as ingredients in skincare products. Plant-based cosmetics deliver promising results for maintaining healthy skin while lowering the risk of exposure to allergens.

British startup Five Dot Botanics offers vegan skincare products using five botanicals from plants, seeds, nuts, and flowers. Ingredients that the startup uses include roman chamomile essential oil, cacay oil, sunflower seed oil, and caffeine, as well as glycolipids from sugar. These natural ingredients add nourishing and healing properties to skin care products. The startup’s products also include a variety of serums, masks, facial oil, mist, and balm. The startup also offers transparency for ingredients usage and products that are certified as vegan.

Biossance produces Sustainable Alternatives for Animal Products

As the human body ages, the production of squalene by skin cells declines, making the skin drier. To keep skin hydrated and maintain the oil balance of the skin, people use beauty products that contain squalene. However, the primary source of squalene is currently sharks, with approximately 3000 livers harvested for 1 ton of squalene. This poses a serious threat to global shark populations and marine ecosystems. BioTech startups produce alternatives to animal products for use in cosmetics, for instance, synthetic squalane, a molecular match for squalene, is derived from olive oil, rice, and sugarcane.

Biossance is a US-based startup that creates safe, effective, and eco-friendly skincare products. The startup produces squalane, an alternative for squalene, from sugarcane through bio-fermentation. Biossance produces all of its products with squalane as the core ingredient, along with other vegan and non-toxic ingredients. Further, the startup follows sustainable packaging practices by using recyclable materials for tubes as well as bottles and sugarcane paper for exterior boxes.

Arata creates Skin & Haircare Products from Plant-derived Ingredients

Some chemical ingredients found in styling and personal care products cause hair fall, hair whitening, excessive dryness, and breakouts. Plant-based products are not only safe but are also more effective for rejuvenating the hair and skin. This is why cosmetics startups are turning to natural products that do not pose the risk of damage to human skin or hair while also being more sustainable.

Arata is an Indian startup that produces 100% plant-derived skin and hair care products. The startup uses apricot, avocado, cinnamon, maple, and cocoa butter, among other natural ingredients, to create its proprietary plant-based product range. It sources flaxseed as well as other natural ingredients from organic farms. Moreover, the packaging of its products is made from 100% consumer recycled plastic.

bioClarity provides Skincare Products using Plant Complex

The cosmetics that claim to deal with skin issues such as acne breakouts, skin-aging, and blemishes are loaded with chemicals. Such cosmetics products come with their own risks, whereas natural alternatives are kinder to the skin and also provide healing properties. Startups develop products with non-toxic ingredients that deal with skin issues and eliminate the use of harmful chemicals.

US-based startup bioClarity creates skincare products. The startup develops Floraflux, a plant complex made of chlorophyll, copper, and antioxidants. It uses Floraflux along with other plant actives and complexes to improve the appearance of the skin and promote skin health. Some of the key ingredients in bioClarity’s products are cucumber, green tea, chamomile, oat extract, licorice root, and olive. In addition to being plant-based, the startup’s products are animal cruelty-free, non-toxic, and dermatologist tested.

basd develops Organic Body Care Products

A variety of natural plant extracts have the ability to restore skin health and are viable alternatives to chemical-based cosmetics. Most cosmetic brands also add parabens as preservatives in cosmetic products, which may have harmful side effects. Moreover, the demand for organic products continues to rise as consumers avoid questionable ingredients and preservatives. This is why startups make use of plant extracts to offer organic body care products.

basd is a Canadian startup that manufactures paraben-free body care products from organic ingredients. The startup’s catalog includes body lotions, coffee scrubs, body washes, and beauty powders. It uses organic ground coffee for exfoliation, organic aloe vera for hydration, vitamin E oil to repair dry skin, and organic sunflower seed oil for anti-aging. Further, the startup uses essential oils instead of artificial additives to add fragrance to its products.
