Which startups develop the other 108 solutions?

Immersion4 Global – Cooling Technology

Advancements in computing power directly translate to an increase in energy utilization. Further, the computing power required today demands an even further increase in the number of data centers. Green data centers enable sustainability and use energy-efficient technologies to reduce the carbon footprint. Startups develop cooling technology and other thermal management solutions to make computing, data storage, and processing more sustainable.

Swiss startup Immersion4 Global converts unused digital energy from green buildings to power data centers. The startup immerses the servers in Ice Coolant Fluid, a dielectric fluid that collects dissipated digital heat and then converts it into a renewable source of energy to run the servers. With the help of its Dynamic Thermal Management (DTM) technology, the startup ensures that there are no carbon emissions, overheating, water consumption, or greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from their data centers.

DDC Cabinet Technology – Energy-Efficient Server Cabinets

Traditional data centers utilize energy to generate computing power, but also produce a considerable amount of heat in the process. Airflow management and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems manage the excess heat in data centers in a process that also consumes energy. Startups are developing innovative data center cabinet technologies to help companies achieve optimal energy efficiency.

The US-based startup DDC Cabinet Technology manufactures energy-efficient server cabinets. The Dynamic Density Control (DDC) Scalable S-Series cabinets improve the measurement and control while also providing dynamic resource allocation within each deployed cabinet. The DDC Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) further utilizes a variety of water temperatures to ensure optimal energy efficiency and operate a zero-waste model. The S-Series cabinets are also scalable from 1kW to 85kW.

GreenPow Edge Computing – Distributed Computing

Networked computers have the potential to be tapped for computational power with the help of distributed computing. Harnessing the unused computational power of networked computers to support the increase in demand for computing power is also sustainable in terms of costs. Startups leverage this sustainable computing model to provide data management services at a considerably lower price.

Costa Rican startup GreenPow Edge Computing provides cloud services, information technology (IT) network services, and distributed data center services. With the help of distributed edge technologies, the startup helps clients optimize their high-performance computing capabilities. The startup provides support for cloud integration and data center design to help companies improve energy efficiency.

Multigrid – Hyperscale Computing

There is a shift towards sustainability among computing and processing companies, owing to increasing maintenance costs for traditional data centers. In addition to improving the sustainability and efficiency of data centers, startups are working on solutions that increase computing power. This is achieved using hyperscale computing, which enables distributed networks to efficiently scale computational power capacities.

Swedish startup Multigrid builds and operates data centers to support hyperscale computing. The startup is building infrastructure and scalable solutions that allow providers of software, digital services, and new products based on computing and communications. Multigrid’s data center design facilitates energy recycling and also operates on renewable energy, in turn, helping companies achieve carbon neutrality.

Evoque Data Center Solutions – Colocation Center

An increase in the demand for cloud-based solutions also increases the need for computing power. Colocation centers suit the needs of small enterprises that do not have the investment capability for space and hardware. These warehouse-like facilities are filled with towers of server racks, available on rent, for companies dealing with large volumes of data. Such colocation centers eliminate the need for individual data centers and provide an additional benefit in terms of cost and energy sharing and reduction.

The US-based startup Evoque Data Center Solutions offers colocation centers and computing solutions to customers. The startup utilizes its global network of data centers to provide customizable colocation services. Evoque provides cloud connectivity and carrier flexibility to support a wide range of networks and regions. The startup’s facilities are also compliant with Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 18 and ISO27001 for security systems management.
