Nexar – Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V)
Vehicle-to-Vehicle is a wireless communication model between cars that provides warnings if another car moves dangerously by analyzing speed, location, the destination of the other cars and anticipating thus preventing possible collisions. For example, Israeli startup Nexar works on an Artificial Intelligence-based camera that uses computer vision algorithms to identify and analyze cars and their movement patterns — warning the driver if another car’s driving behavior is considered dangerous.
Derq – Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I)
A Vehicle-to-Infrastructure communication system provides information bi-directionally: from the vehicle to the infrastructure, and vice versa. Smart infrastructure involved in this communication includes traffic lights, streetlights, cameras, parking meters, etc. For example, Derq is a Dubai-based startup that uses technologies such as driver behavioral analysis, intelligent driver assistance, sensors, and perception fusion to decrease the number of accidents on the road, and/or warn other drivers about possible collisions.
Autotalks – Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X)
Equipped with this technology, connected cars provide wireless communication between all other cars, infrastructure items, and people involved in traffic movement thus leading to improved safety on roads. Israel-based startup Autotalks focuses on autonomous cars that analyze data received from cars, traffic lights, streetlights, and pedestrians to enhance the quality and safety of driving, using a V2X chipset that allows for dedicated short-range communication (DSRC).
Connected Cars – In-Vehicle Services
In-vehicle services enable drivers to quickly access current and statistical information about their car, and its features to control the vehicle’s safety, quality, and diagnose breakdowns at one click. The platform of the Danish startup Connected Cars allows drivers to get real-time information about fuel efficiency, and other essential parameters, as well as send these updates to a repair shop for fixing the breakdown and even preventing it.
Perceptive Automata – Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P)
Vehicle-to-Pedestrian means the communication between pedestrians, bicyclists, scooters, and other vehicles, provided they have in-vehicle pedestrian detection. This function allows for the analysis of pedestrians’ behavior, bilateral notifications, warnings and automatic braking of the car to avoid accidents. For example, US startup Perceptive Automata works on software for human behavior prediction and understanding automated vehicles, working with OEMs, suppliers, and tech companies that are building or integrating automated driving systems.
