Southern Green Gas offers Solar Direct Air Capture (DAC) Units

The path to net zero energy production is achieved mainly through the use of renewable energy. Depending on geographic and climatic conditions, different sources are viable for different countries. Because of this, startups develop renewable energy options for shifting to net zero emissions from energy production. For example, using solar energy for direct air capture (DAC), a carbon dioxide capturing process, produces carbon-neutral fuel.

Australian startup Southern Green Gas delivers solar-powered direct air capture units. The startup deploys small-scale modular DAC units rather than large-scale petrochemical units. Each unit captures 1 to 2 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. This energy powers various energy processes such as green methane production, algae farm productions, and carbon removal, among others.

Squeaky provides Net Zero Fuels

Utility companies provide carbon-intensive energy to consumers, which leads to significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These practices are unsustainable and contribute to global warming. Startups are offering zero-carbon fuels that allow consumers to, instead, utilize zero-emissions fuel. For instance, buying energy from producers that aggregate different renewable sources ensure net zero emissions.

British startup Squeaky produces zero-emission fuel mixes. The fuel mix depends on the ratio of solar, wind, and hydro energy which generates the electricity supplied to customers. The energy is traceable, green, and sustainable. Furthermore, the startup provides the option to choose flexible or fixed pricing models. Thus, consumers enjoy renewable fuels for businesses and homes according to their specific needs.

Tillamook Row develops Net Zero Buildings

Utilizing renewable energy in buildings is limited by the installation of complex and expensive equipment. Since the use of fossil-fuel-powered electricity makes buildings unsustainable, there is a need to shift from fossil fuels to renewable sources. To achieve this, startups design ergonomic structures that manage building power. These structures integrate with the building to mediate the supply of electricity.

US-based startup Tillamook Row designs net zero energy buildings. The startup designs buildings that only depend on renewable sources of energy. They consist of solar panels and heat-recovery ventilators on south-facing roofs, facilitating energy management. The ventilators allow for fresh air to be supplied in the building at all times. Further, the triple-pane windows ensure minimal heating and cooling losses through ergonomic insulation setups. In turn, consumers access efficient lighting and heating while increasing the energy efficiency of buildings.

Everfuel delivers Green Hydrogen for Mobility

Hydrogen-powered vehicles are zero-emission vehicles that reduce reliance on fossil fuels. However, there are emissions related to the production of hydrogen. Utilizing methane or natural gas to produce hydrogen leads to GHG emissions. To maintain net zero emissions, startups develop green hydrogen production techniques that use renewables to produce hydrogen.

Danish startup Everfuel provides renewable hydrogen refueling solutions. It facilitates the complete hydrogen value chain from hydrogen production, distribution, and fueling at the point of delivery. This offers competitive hydrogen prices to end-users since the startup provides hydrogen fuel at prices comparable to traditional gasoline or diesel. Thus, individuals gain the opportunity to shift to clean and affordable mobility.

Portable Electric manufactures Foldable Solar Kits

It is not possible to achieve net zero emissions from energy production when renewable energy is not available. For example, cities require backup power supplies through gas-powered generators. These produce harmful GHG emissions and are not environmentally friendly. Thus, to provide energy for such instances, startups design portable solar power generators. These are transportable and provide energy for small-scale purposes.

Canadian startup Portable Electric develops portable solar power generation kits. VOLTstack is a line of generators available in a variety of power loads and for different purposes. The generators utilize solar and wind energy for recharging as well as provide residential power or charge electric vehicles (EV). The startup’s SUNstack 200 is a 200-watt folding solar kit. It deploys in a few seconds and is portable, with the panels resembling the shape of a briefcase. The startup ships the product with an over-the-shoulder strap bag and solar connector cable which connects to the startup’s portable emissions-free power station.
