Novion offers a Smart Water Management Solution

With an increasing global population, resource sharing has become a major challenge, as well as a priority, for many countries. Despite the drive towards clean water and sanitation, improper consumption of the available water resources remains widespread. Further, the lack of suitable infrastructure, plumbing, or maintenance results in preventable water leakages. Thus, startups design smart water management systems to prevent wastage and to prioritize consumption patterns in residential and industrial settings.

Canadian startup Novion offers an artificial intelligence (AI)-based water management system, Sibil. The solution monitors and analyzes data from the sensors connected to the water infrastructure. The Sibil platform utilizes the internet of things (IoT) to collect real-time water usage information and also sends it to the cloud. The system identifies the regular and abnormal usage patterns, predicts outcomes, and alerts operators before leakage or damage occurs. Sibil is suitable for use in shopping centers, food & beverage processing facilities, and residential buildings to improve water supply and reduce shortages.

FluksAqua designs a Water Utility Management Platform

Monitoring and control of water production and flow is the primary responsibility of drinking water utilities and production plants. Apart from mechanical parameters, utility engineers also analyze various chemical parameters like acidity, conductivity, and turbidity of the water source. Many startups already provide smart water meters for homes but now also focus on versatile systems for industrial water plants. Such digital water management reduces large-scale damage, such as flooding, from the source.

French startup FluksAqua develops a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform to monitor water usage in drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment plants. FluksAqua’s platform monitors the volume of raw water, treated water, and stored water in reservoirs. The software also records water quality parameters, energy consumption, and leakage information. The platform offers remote management and real-time reporting of data from treatment plants to utility managers.

Saya Life provides Smart Sub-Metering Solutions

Water management and conservation efforts in homes are often done manually. This makes it difficult to accurately monitor usage or prevent overflows. This challenge is amplified for large residential complexes. Further, tracking usage to share water bills and control unwanted leaks requires considerable man-hours. Thus, connected water management tools, such as smart meters, to analyze, monitor, and control water usage in every household limits water wastage.

US-based startup Saya Life provides a sub-metering solution for homes. The startup’s integrated IoT platform targets multi-tenant residential and commercial buildings to monitor water usage. Saya’s water risk management platform integrates with air and water quality as well as energy and flood sensors. The IoT platform utilizes ultrasonic water meters for monitoring water pressure, temperature, and consumption. Moreover, the platform integrates with a seismic portal to automatically shut off the water supply during earthquakes. These solutions reduce water bills and prevent the unnecessary loss of water.

WEGoT builds Real-Time Water Management Systems

Monitoring and controlling daily water usage benefits municipalities and residents in the long run. Water wastage mainly occurs due to undetected plumbing issues, such as a leaking faucet. Proper control over the water supply of lines at home is essential and the advent of connected networks and technology aids effectively. Startups integrate sensors throughout the water systems and enable real-time monitoring of water flow and usage patterns. Such solutions enable users to control water consumption and conserve water.

Indian startup WEGoT provides a holistic water management solution for residential and commercial buildings. WeGoT monitors and provides insights on every node of a water delivery system from source to usage. The startup’s ultrasonic sensors are Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI)-tested and accurately detect water flow. This, in turn, enables residents to control the water system from anywhere. The WeGoT app also analyzes and gathers insights on water consumption and conservation from leak prevention. Further, the WeGoT monitor incorporates a fail-safe design and is rain-proof. The solution finds applications for water management in tanker lorries, borewells, water treatment, and sewage treatment plants.

Quensus provides Hygienic Water Supply Solutions

Stagnant water in buildings causes hazards due to the formation of microbial biofilm. For example, standing water increases the risk for growth and spread of Legionella. However, this issue is preventable by using hot water or disinfectants. Proper and safe maintenance of the water system requires plunging or disinfection at the appropriate time. However, these are often performed manually and are easily missed in large infrastructures. Thus, remote monitoring and control of the plumbing system effectively reduces costs and manpower and ensures safe use of water.

British startup Quensus works on multiple water management systems. The startup’s FlushSafe solution prevents the spread of infectious diseases, especially Legionnaire’s disease, through the plumbing system. The control of infections in the water system is done by maintaining the water at temperatures above 50-degrees Celsius. Further, the startup’s LeakNet solution utilizes machine learning (ML) to detect unusual flows and is capable of shutting valves remotely through a proprietary app. Quensus also offers intelligent flow-based leak detection solutions for construction sites and commercial buildings.
