ONDO offers Intelligent Drip Irrigation
Agricultural activities consume more freshwater than any other industry. AgriTech startups are developing smarter irrigation solutions to reduce water use. For many cities, lakes and other natural water bodies act as water reservoirs, as well as provide social and economic benefits. 3AWater provides Dissolved Metals Detection
Industrial and consumer wastewater contribute to heavy metal pollutants such as lead, mercury, and copper. The presence of heavy metals in drinking water is linked with many health conditions, including neuronal damage and an elevated risk of cancer. Startups are developing diagnostic solutions to quantify the levels of dissolved metals in both wastewater and drinking water streams.
3AWater is a Finnish startup that develops a measurement system to detect dissolved metals. The solution uses a filter made of the startup’s proprietary nanomaterial that concentrates metals by a factor of 1.000 as compared to that in the water sample. It then uses portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) sensors to measure metal ion concentration. By enabling the on-site measurement of dissolved metals, the solution provides real-time data on water quality for a fast response.
Previsico offers Flood Forecasting
Floods are a regular occurrence in many overcrowded or coastal cities globally. In addition to the loss of life and property, floods also contaminate the fresh water supply of cities. Smart city solutions are integrating water management with risk assessment tools to predict floods. This enables proactive flood mitigation as well as the preservation of freshwater.
