RigiTech manufactures Parcel Delivery Drones

One of the most important hallmarks of an effective supply chain is the timely delivery of items to consumers. However, as cities and their populations grow, traffic congestions cause delays in the delivery of goods. To combat these problems, startups are using drones, with increasingly larger load capacities, that fly over congested streets to deliver parcels.

Swiss startup RigiTech manufactures vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) for last-mile delivery. The startup’s drone, RigiOne, has a payload capacity of up to 3 kg and a flight range of 80 km. The drone is designed for reverse logistics and picks up packages. It features Rigi Cloud, a platform for autonomous operation and parcel tracking. The startup’s drone technology finds applications in healthcare, delivery of industrial & spare parts, e-commerce & postal, and emergency & humanitarian.

SmartCow develops Supply Chain IoT Solutions

In any supply chain, a delay in the transportation of goods creates a ripple effect with significant monetary losses. The bottlenecks in a supply chain network arise from the large volume of goods that require precise tracking and monitoring. Startups use the Internet of Things (IoT) to develop solutions that reduce manpower requirements to track and inspect cargo containers.

Malta-based startup SmartCow develops an optical character recognition (OCR) solution using video analytics and IoT. The key features of their IoT system include a high rate of container OCR recognition. The ship-to-shore system reads container data such as weight, dangerous goods rating, etc. It integrates existing radio-frequency identification (RFID) gate pass systems and does not require machine vision cameras or other specialized equipment to function.

Cogos Technologies provides Parcel Delivery Vehicles

A supply chain’s effectiveness is determined by the speed and rate at which goods are transported. The demand for goods isn’t always consistent for all industries and is affected by seasonality and demand. This is why startups provide vehicles to meet the needs of first-mile to last-mile delivery. These solutions also remove the need for companies and businesses to maintain their own fleets and optimize operational costs.

Indian startup Cogos Technologies provides their clients with trucks for the transportation of goods and freight. The startup’s services include multi pick-up and drop-off points, seamless payments with tax invoices, and end-to-end process visibility. The transportation services improve logistics in industries such as e-commerce, retail & fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), manufacturing, and more.

Parkunload provides a Smart Parking Zones Platform

The increasing density of vehicular traffic in cities causes supply chains to slow down. Moreover, the increase in traffic creates additional problems due to the lack of parking spaces for the loading and unloading of goods. This is why startups are digitizing parking spaces within cities that allow users to book and manage parking spaces using their mobile phones. This reduces the burden of having to find suitable parking spaces and results in smoother transportation of goods.

Portuguese startup Parkunload provides a digital platform for restricted parking that aids in last-mile delivery. The Bluetooth-based mobile app platform lists multiple parking parameters, such as location, vehicle profile, license plate, peak hours, user profiles, and pollution and health emergency information. The solution uses smart parking and delivery zones to regulate loading zones for urban freight and delivery fleets in cities.

Rytle manufactures Cargo Bikes

The boom of e-commerce creates a substantial increase in the number of couriers required to fulfill the needs of last-mile deliveries. Previous methods of delivery were only designed to be effectively used for small quantities of delivery and not for scale. As the range of products to be delivered increases, startups develop flexible and scalable delivery solutions to assist couriers.

German startup Rytle manufactures cargo bikes for last-mile delivery. The startup’s cargo bike, MOVR, has a payload capacity of up to 180 kg with a volume of up to 2 cubic meters. The cargo bike also features an electric drive unit with a speed of up to 25 km/h and a total output of 250 W. Rytle helps optimize the delivery process with BOX and HUB, the startup’s swappable containers. The logistics service containers pack the couriers to simply pick up and begin delivery.
