Esmito provides Internet of Things(IoT) enabled Swappable EV Batteries

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Chennai, India
Partner for: EV Fleet, Logistics

Indian startup Esmito creates a range of lithium-ion batteries for electric two- and three-wheelers. Their batteries are available in 48 V, 60 V, and 72 V architectures and use smart controller area network (CAN)-enabled battery management systems (BMS). The batteries feature the internet of things (IoT)-enabled devices to remotely monitor the state of health and safety parameters of their battery packs. The startup’s IoT-enabled battery swap technology offers virtual locking of batteries through proprietary battery swapping protocols. Their solutions solve the problems of range anxiety, long EV charging times, and queues at charging stations. The solution provides logistics operations and fleet owners access to battery swapping infrastructure and technology.

Batron Enerji manufactures Electric Boat Batteries

Founding Year: 2017
Location: Kayseri, Turkey
Partner for: Electric Vehicles, Logistics

Turkish startup Batron Enerji provides a variety of battery design and production services for multiple applications including automated guided vehicles, military vehicles, and boats. Their 100 V electric boat batteries use lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePo4), maintain their charge capacity for several years, work in tough conditions, and have no memory effect. Moreover, they feature a BMS with hardware redundancy for all safety-related components. The emission from non-electric power systems in boats reduces the quality of the water which is why the boating industry is transitioning to high power battery systems. The startup’s battery gives boat operators and the marine industry a green alternative to power their vehicles.

Aviloo provides EV Battery Testing Services

Founding Year: 2017
Location: Biedermannsdorf, Austria
Partner for: Electric Vehicles

Austrian startup Aviloo examines batteries to provide insights into their health and performance. The test is carried out at the user’s convenience by simply connecting the AVILOO Box to their fully charged electric vehicle. The user then drives their car until the end of the test, after which the data is sent to the cloud for processing. The results of the test are compactly summarized in the AVILOO certificate provided to users two days after completing the test. As the automotive industry increasingly adopts electric vehicles, the market becomes saturated with both new and old batteries. This is why the startup’s service enables the automotive industry to reduce wastage of batteries and customers better understand the lifecycle of vehicle batteries.

BeePlanet Factory repurposes Second Life EV Batteries

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Noáin, Spain
Partner for: Energy Storage, Second Life EV Batteries

Spanish startup BeePlanet Factory manufactures energy storage systems that reuse electric vehicle lithium-ion batteries. Their containerized energy storage equipment is both modular and scalable, with each rack’s capacity starting from 42kWh. Moreover, the racks are expandable with additional modules, connectable in parallel up to energy capacities of 1MWh. The batteries use remote monitoring and maintenance to detect stacks that have reached their capacity and replace and recycle them. This solution solves one of the main challenges in the electrification of the automotive industry which is the increasing waste of discarded electric vehicle batteries. Most electric vehicle batteries are discarded long before they reach the end of their useful life. This is why startups such as BeePlanet Factory are repurposing discarded batteries from electric vehicles to develop solutions for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, power grids, and home energy storage systems.

Factorial Energy provides Solid-State Batteries for Electric Mobility

Founding Year: 2021
Location: Woburn, US
Partner for: Electric Vehicles and Aircraft

US-based startup Factorial Energy specializes in the research and development of solid-state batteries for electric mobility. Their electrode-agnostic production process yields a balanced performance and commercial-scale solid-state. In addition, solid-state batteries provide a more efficient source of energy for the electric mobility industry as compared to the current lithium-ion-based batteries. Moreover, the higher flashpoint of this battery type increases the overall safety of the technology while reducing costs associated with cooling systems typically required for lithium-ion batteries.
