SIMON provides 5G SIM Cards

Cities are steadily integrating the internet of things (IoT) devices and infrastructure. For example, IoT enables monitoring highways, managing public transportation, tracking fleet vehicles, and smart parking solutions. By developing 5G support for IoT devices, city managers simultaneously manage various city infrastructure and networks without interruptions.

US-based startup SIMON creates IoT SIM cards with support for 5G technology. SIMON delivers global cellular connectivity and their cards are compatible with IoT devices equipped with sim card slots. Additionally, to manage IoT data, SIMON allows real-time viewing of data usage metrics on their data portal. The solution finds applications in hospitals and banks, as well as in the construction, retail, insurance, manufacturing, and agriculture industries.

Dense Air increases 5G Network Coverage using Small Cells

Fast wireless communication standards use complex modulation to reach high speeds. Such modulation requires good signal quality to operate efficiently. Also, 5G standards use higher frequencies than conventional telecommunications networks. Startups develop high-frequency solutions that are more sensitive to obstacles and eliminate the problem of poor network coverage.

UK-based startup Dense Air provides managed small cell service to increase coverage and speed of mobile networks, both indoors and outdoors. the startup’s Smart Cells use a dedicated spectrum together with a network operator spectrum to improve network performance. Further, the startup provides network analytics using big data and network quality tests (NQT) to visualize real-time network coverage. The startup’s Denseware portal detects weak spots in the network and provides recommendations for the deployment of small cells. The Dense Air small cells are useful for single or multiple network operators, enterprises, and industrial customers.

Covalensedigital creates a 5G Monetization Platform

Cities require a management platform connecting different businesses, governments, and citizens to optimize existing services and enable newer ones. Such a platform should also be compatible with emerging communication technologies, including 5G, to get the most out of smart infrastructure. Startups use analytical tools such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to improve engagement and management for cities.

Indian startup Covalensedigital provides Csmart, a 5G and IoT-ready digital platform enabling service providers to launch new services and power network agility with a digital approach. This is done by quickly upgrading operators’ monetization platforms and launching new business models and service offerings. For cities, Csmart provides a partner platform to foster collaboration of different vendors enabling smart city solutions. These solutions include service orchestration and automation to decrease service costs as well as dashboards and notifications for gathering information from sensor arrays.

iExec combines 5G & Blockchain Networks

Blockchain is an up-and-coming technology, and together with 5G, it increases the quality of modern city services. Further, transactions through blockchain networks are instant and immutable, which further increases the security of payments. Startups develop solutions that resolve issues related to multi-enterprise interactions and facilitate the creation of new 5G-based business models.

iExec is a US-based scaleup providing blockchain technology to infrastructure that supports 5G, machine-to-machine (M2M) transactions, and autonomous services. iExec partnered with Intel to demonstrate the application of 5G and Blockchain in cities. In this demo, iExec provided a blockchain-based marketplace for services and decentralized authentication between connected devices. By combining 5G and blockchain in a rescue robot service, the demo resulted in a high-performance and secure concept for 5G infrastructure in cities.

Cheetah Networks delivers IoT Network Analytics

5G-based services and operations in cities are increasingly dependent on connectivity infrastructure technologies. Implementing drone renting services or infrastructure and traffic management is not possible without a stable internet connection. All of this requires constant control over the 5G network to decrease downtime and associated losses.

Cheetah Networks is a Canadian startup delivering PulseView to visualize and understand networks as well as identify and isolate their issues. This assures the Quality of Experience (QoE) for people, machines, and applications connected to public or private networks. PulseView works in heterogeneous networks and uses the startup’s Actionable Real-Time IoT Network Analytics (ARTINA) AI to provide data analytics, identify trends, and predict malfunctions. PulseView also optimizes 4G and 5G network operations by monitoring diverse applications, subscribers, and use cases, helping network managers minimize connectivity issues.
