Earthly Labs facilitates Small-scale Carbon Capture

Founding Year: 2017
Location: Austin, US
Funding: USD 5 M
Partner for Food Waste Upcycling

US-based startup Earthly Labs develops small-scale carbon capture technology. The startup’s product, CiCi, captures carbon from fermentation waste breweries and carbonated beverage manufacturers. Using a purification technology, it converts carbon dioxide into a beverage-grade liquid for instant reuse. In addition, the startup’s technology captures carbon to stimulate indoor plant growth. It allows farmers to cultivate vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, and cannabis without artificial carbon and with increased yield.

Bergen Carbon Solutions develops Carbon Nanofibers (CNF)

Founding Year: 2016
Location: Bergen, Norway
Funding: USD 5,8 M
Reach out for Carbon-negative Nanotubes

Norwegian startup Bergen Carbon Solutions develops carbon nanofibers (CNF). The startup deploys eco-nanotechnology to transform captured CO2 molecules to carbon and oxygen. It then transforms the captured carbon dioxide into CNFs, releasing oxygen as a byproduct into the environment. The startup’s solution tackles climate change by upcycling excessive CO2 into products.

Solmeyea produces Bio-Based Proteins

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Athens, Greece
Collaborate for Algae-based Carbon Capture

Solmeyea is a Greek startup that offers bio-based protein products. The startup develops technology for the vertical cultivation of microalgae. The microalgae capture carbon dioxide and sunlight from the air via photosynthesis and repurpose them to produce food items. The circular economy solution produces animal feed, supplements, protein snacks, and others. The technology lowers the carbon footprint of food production while removing excess CO2 from the atmosphere.

Carbix manufactures Building Materials

Founding Year: 2017
Location: Quincy, US
Funding: USD 300 000
Work with Carbix for Industrial Carbon Capture

US-based startup Carbix transforms CO2 emissions into building materials. The startup uses point capture technology and direct air capture to collect carbon dioxide generated by waste to energy plants, geothermal plants, water desalination facilities, and natural gas plants. It combines modeling data on exhaust gases with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to extract carbon dioxide from the plant’s exhaust stream with feedstocks and other minerals. Using fast batch reactors, it converts the captured carbon dioxide into net-zero and negative emission building products. This enables materials and the building industry to reduce carbon footprint during production.

Carbon Capture Machine produces Carbon-negative Feedstock

Founding Year: 2017
Location: Aberdeen, UK
Partner for Carbon-negative Raw Material

British startup Carbon Capture Machine develops machines that convert emitted CO2 into carbon-negative feedstock to reverse climate change. The startup dissolves C02 from any source into dilute alkali to convert it into carbonate ions. The carbonate solution reacts with abundantly available Ca++ and Mg++ ions from brines including waste desalination brine, production and formation brine from oil and gas, and connate brine. The carbon-negative precipitated calcium carbonate (PPC) feedstock finds applications in the manufacture of paper making, plastics, paints, adhesives, cement, and concrete.
