Boxhead Plastics offers Car Bumper Recycling

Founding Year: 2019
Location: Sydney, Australia
Partner for: Packaging

Australian startup Boxhead Plastics creates recycled plastic products from waste car bumper bars. The startup’s Naiteev range of packaging products is made by collecting waste car bumper bars and sorting them into polymer types. After this, the bumpers are checked for contamination and finally granulated. Once the granules are re-processed to produce plastic pellets, they are sent to injection molding factories to create new products. Boxhead reduces the amount of waste generated from discarded vehicles and also decreases the carbon footprint of automotive manufacturing.

Librec facilitates Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Recycling

Founding Year: 2021
Location: Oensingen, Switzerland
Partner for: Material Recovery

Swiss startup Librec specializes in the recovery and recycling of EV battery materials and components. Librec recovers residual energy and all materials from batteries without burning or melting. This maximizes the recovery of materials and components from the coating stage and makes them available as starting materials. Moreover, the recycling process does not require any chemicals or produce any emissions, increasing the sustainability of automotive or energy industry operations.

Neowaste advances Chemical Waste Recycling

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Pell City, USA
Partner for: Alternative Fuels

US-based startup Neowaste specializes in decentralizing waste management through chemical recycling. Neowaste’s distributed network of small, modular units, manages waste at or near sources of waste generation. This reduces transportation costs and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The startup’s Polycrack recycling technology accepts a wide range of feedstocks, including tires and plastics, to produce low sulfur diesel from hydrogen and carbon. Unlike other recycling solutions, Polycrack reduces the amount of discarded tire waste created by the automotive industry, which is otherwise diverted to landfills.

Ecotyrelab provides Modular Recycling Equipment

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Kasel-Golzig, Germany
Partner for: Fuels

German startup Ecotyrelab manufactures modular tires recycling equipment that uses electromagnetic induction. The equipment separates end-of-life tires to their component materials such as crumb rubber, steel wire, textiles, gas for re-use in the production of new tires, road surfacing, and more. This solution uses less heat, which consequently does not degrade physical or chemical properties, and is smaller in size to enable easy installation. When compared to conventional tire recycling recruitment, Exotyrelab establishes modular solutions closer to waste generation sites, in turn, reducing the logistical costs of recycling.

Re Mat enables Polyurethane Waste Transformation

Founding Year: 2018
Location: Nichelino, Italy
Partner for: Fuels

Italian startup Re Mat recovers industrial polyurethane waste and converts it into secondary raw material. Re Mat regenerates end-of-life polyurethane and processes bulky padded waste, including polyurethane from automotive vehicles. The startup’s Block Foam range of recycled polyurethane shows the same properties as virgin material and is used to produce blocks, sheets, or customized geometries. It is also suitable for reuse in the construction, automotive, packaging, and furniture industries. In this way, automotive manufacturers salvage vehicle interiors to reuse them in new vehicles, improving the sustainability of the industry.
