GlowDx – Artificial Intelligence Tools

Artificial Intelligence (AI) identifies meaningful relationships in raw data. It is used to support diagnosing, treating and predicting outcomes as well as to simulate the course of pandemics, as, for example, the spread of Coronavirus. Further, AI aids in drug development, patient monitoring, and personalized patient treatment plans.

The Irish startup GlowDx develops a diagnostics platform aimed at tackling infectious diseases in emerging economies. It detects mosquito-borne infections like Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, and the Zika Virus, while AI utilizes machine learning to model & predict future outbreaks.

Onward Assist – Machine Learning

Machine learning algorithms provide aid in early disease detection and the assessment of many kinds of disorders such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

The Indian company Onward Assist builds a predictive analytics platform for oncology, built with expert input from doctors, state of the art computer vision techniques, and machine learning algorithms. Onward Assist enables an AI platform providing automated diagnostic assistant tools focused on Oncology as well as Histopathology and Radiology.

In-Med Prognostics – Image Processing

Image recognition software is being combined with machine learning to help clinicians diagnose diseases using patient images such as photos, test results, x-rays, and other medical images.

India-based In-Med Prognostics offers a cloud-based software called NeuroShield – neural nets-based predictive analytics for various neurodegenerative disorders using imaging data and assists physicians in diagnosing and proactively managing patients. Leveraging state-of-the-art data analytics and deep learning methodologies, this company develops a biomarker algorithm for various neurological disorders, starting with pediatric epilepsy and dementia.

MaxQ AI – Computer Vision

Computer vision through machine learning enables image classification, segmentation, object detection and more. This technology is a helping hand for medical staff and increases quality, accuracy, and predictability, saving diagnosis time and early detection of certain diseases.

The Israeli startup MaxQ AI incorporates deep learning and machine vision software that interprets medical images, such as computed tomography (CT) scans. It reduces misdiagnoses by involving artificial intelligence intrinsic to the diagnostic process for time-sensitive and life-threatening conditions.

Ariana – Chatbots

Using speech/text recognition, chatbots compare the symptoms that they receive from a user against a database of diseases. This can especially be helpful in the case of pandemics, as the need for information is naturally higher during this time. As an example, people who fear that they show symptoms of the novel Coronavirus can refer to a chatbot to describe their symptoms along with other information that determines if they are a suspected case. In response, chatbots recommend an appropriate course of action (to visit the pharmacy, emergency call, etc.) based on a combination of the reported symptoms, the patient’s history, and their circumstances.

The German company Ariana develops a natural-language understanding (NLU) and machine learning-powered platform — a health chatbot designed for the healthcare industry. Through the intelligent use of data, continuous learning, and meaningful conversation, Ariana builds an evolving personal and insightful relationship with its users on a daily basis.
