Canadian startup Neurolytixs provides AI-based concussion diagnoses for young athletes. It collects blood samples of each athlete before the season starts and compares them with the blood drawn within 72 hours of a possible concussion. Neurolytixs uses mass spectroscopy to measure dried plasma spots and metabolites in the blood to compare past and present measurements using AI to diagnose mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI). This allows injured athletes to be removed from play to prevent acute injury and facilitate concussion recovery. Unlike conventional mTBI diagnosis that relies on subjective physical, cognitive, and behavioral methodologies, this minimizes the risk of misinterpretation and manipulation as well as identifies injuries promptly.
