Nilima Nanotechnologies – Antibacterial Nanocoating

The body normally releases chemicals into the bloodstream to fight infections. Sepsis occurs when the body’s response to these chemicals is out of balance, triggering changes that can damage multiple organ systems. Such bacterial infections cause illness and death all over the world. By coating glass, ceramics, acrylics, metals, stones, textiles, and various other surfaces with antibacterial nanocoatings, the surrounding can become cleaner and microbe-free. Antibacterial additives can be engineered into a range of materials including polymers, textiles, coatings, paper, and adhesives. Indian startup Nilima Nanotechnologies offers additives with antibacterial silver nanoparticles for surface coatings. Their technology prevents bacteria, mold, and mildew from developing to ensure there are no stains and odors. These coatings even increase the longevity of a product.

Alchemy – Nanocoating For Autonomous Vehicles Sensors

In poor weather conditions, an autonomous vehicle’s sensors may be distorted due to rain, snow, or mud. Nanocoatings can be integrated directly into sensor housing units to prevent the accumulation of water, dirt, ice or other debris on its surface. Canadian startup Alchemy develops an omniphobic anti-abrasion nanocoating that prevents water, dirt, ice or other debris from accumulating on the surface of sensor lens housing units. Abrasion-resistance prevents scratches on the surface which can distort the sensor’s view. HC260 is fully transparent to all visible light, LiDAR, and radar specific wavelengths used for guiding autonomous vehicles.

Advanced Nanotechnologies – Anti-Fogging Nanocoating

In humid and foggy conditions, it is dangerous to use motorcycle helmets, camera optics, safety glasses, or even eyeglasses as it can fog up and cause problems for many users. Nanocoating technologies prevent the surface condensation that occurs due to large differences in exterior and interior temperature. Spanish startup Advanced Nanotechnologies create a permanent nano-coating for plastic and glass substrates with anti-fogging materials that leave surfaces clear. This technology is compatible with ophthalmic lenses and with a variety of layers including anti-reflective layers. They achieve this by using ultra-high vacuum machines that allow for creating a nano-thin layer of material.

Dab Flow – Textiles Nanocoating

By applying nanocoating on textile surfaces, manufacturers have the ability to customize a coat for any fabric to meet a diverse array of needs, ranging from something as simple as water and dirt resistant to something as powerful as fire resistance. The Emirati startup Dab Flow develops water repellent nanocoating for textiles that protect it from water, dirt, contamination, and stains. Polymer sealants possess strong non-stick properties and do not affect the material’s appearance, its ability to breathe, its color or handling, while it is also easy to maintain. When applied, they will turn these surfaces into strong hydrophobic and oleophobic bonds.

What About The Other 296 Solutions?

While we believe data is key to creating insights it can be easy to be overwhelmed by it. Our ambition is to create a comprehensive overview and provide actionable innovation intelligence for your Proof of Concept (PoC), partnership, or investment targets.
